Euphonium Sound "buzzes" above a F#3

I was ecstatic when I saw that there was an actual euphonium sound with 2.0, but I quickly learned an electronic buzzing sound was being made above F#3 (G in the 4th space and above) and it makes the music I'm writing sound bad. Is there any way to fix this?

The FluidR3Mono Soundfont

As you know this has become the standard soundfont used for the 2.0 Betas.

I thought, therefore, that a link here to the latest version with all fixes would be good here.

Unfortunately my compile of Werner's compression tool is currently producing a corrupt file, so this is a link to the latest version of the SF2 file at my Dropbox account.

I shall lose some file space when my trial period ends in February, so I may have to switch to a Google Drive later.

Whatever, a link to the latest version of the .SF2 file will always be available from this thread.

Descriptions of soundfonts?

Where can I find descriptions of the sounds in particular soundfonts?

For example, let's say that I wanted an electric guitar sound with distortion, or a saxophone that sounds more like a honk, or machine-like sounds to replace conventional instruments, or . . . ?

Somebody is going to say: It's best if you listen to the soundfonts instead of reading about them. I agree. But a brief written description can ease the process, especially if some soundfont files are unstable or worse.

Do written descriptions exist anywhere?

Thank you!

Change soundfont for score playback on website

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to playback the music score on a website, but with my preferred soundfont. I see that I can upload the score for playback/sharing/embedding on Musescore.com, but it plays back using the default soundfont, which I would like to change. Anyone have pointers on how to playback a score online using a different soundfont?

thanks!

Making a Sf2 using Polyphone free editor

Hello everybody.

Merry Christmas !

At the begining of november, I had a chance to buy a wonderful digital piano (KAWAI CN24).
As I am not very happy of the several piano soundfonst I found on the net (and considering the fact the MuseScore does not support the VST format), I would like to try creating my own SF2 from my Kawai.
I found the Polyphone software. Can someone give me a help ?
I've never done that before.

Best Regards

Use sfz instead of sf3

I was wondering if it wouldn't be better to use sfz as the standard soundfont format?
It seems to be much better suited for your git based development process and also seems to have more features.

SFZ/Zerberus issue

Hi,

In addition to Salamander Grand Piano I've converted some of my files to sfz. Musescore seems to handle it fine (better than SF2 actually) when it comes to playing the SFZ instruments but:
- deleting an instrument, while removing it from the Synthesizer's Zerberus list, doesn't actually remove it, so you can still select in the mixer.
- adding a new SFZ doesn't refresh the Mixer's instrument list so you'd have to close/reopen it to see the new additions.

This are minor bugs that can be worked around, but thought I'd note it, in case they're easy fixes.

Thanks!

Hello Everybody.

I know how I mentioned ToH 2.02 being a fantastic GM,GS and XG font. This one leaves it far behind in terms of quality of the individual samples and balance.

Ive been using beta versions of the font for months with musescore2 betas and as far as I can see it works perfectly with all the instruments.

All the samples are properly normalized, so unlike FluidR3_GM you don't have to raise the gain just to hear it. All for only 369mb

I really believe this deserves to be mentioned in the handbook!

Soundfont not carrying over to posted score....

Hi, I just made a song using a soundfont, but when I post the score online, it seems as if the soundfont is not carrying over to the posted score, so when you play it, it sounds as if there was no soundfont. This also happens with font, if I change the title of a score to a different font, when I upload the score, the font has gone back to default. Can somebody help me change this? Thank you in advance.

Wrong soundfont used for 2.0 RC?

Continuing a conversation from here, I can hear popping in MuseScore 2.0 RC candidate - Mac 10.7.5.

The Synthesiser says fluid.sf3, and the snare volume sounds different to other drums (a recent change), so maybe the mono version isn't being used?

I think the mono version is being used for uploads to .com.

I've attached an mscz (possibly produced in 1.3) and the WAV exported from 2.0.

Uncompressed version of amended Fluid soundfont

I understand Michael (ChurchOrganist) made adjustments to correct issues in the original SF2, but is this available in SF2 form (if so, apologies)? It would be ideal for the stereo and uncompressed qualities - both for the musescore.com server in producing the MP3 version (avoiding double compression?), and for offline use.

The sound on .com might be affected by this, so I attach an mscz (produced in 2.0 RC on Mac 10.7.5) and the MP3 that was downloadable to demonstrate.

Can I have the old recorder samples back?

$

The old MuseScore 1.x had recorder samples that were somewhat sterile sounding, but therefore very useful when you were writing for larger ensembles.

The 2.x beta replaced that with samples that are out of tune and have an annoying vibrato.

How can I use the old samples in the new version?

Sonatina symphonic orchestra woodwinds don't play notes above staff

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the wind sounds not playing (specifically for me, Flute and English Horn), when the notes are above the staff (A5 and up)?
If so, have any of you found a fix for this?
The SSO soundfont is excellent in so many ways and I would not like to have to abandon it if possible.
I appreciate the help from the community. Thank you.

New Clarinet for MuseScore 2

I am nearing the end of entering loop information into the new clarinet I am working on for MuseScore 2 using samples from the University of Iowa.

At this point I need the considered view of the community.

Should the Clarinet only produce notes in the standard range for the instrument?

Or should the range be extended throughout the MIDI keyboard range?

You need to bear in mind that notes outside the official range will have to be timestretched in the lower octaves of the MIDI keyboard, with consequent deterioration in speech and timbre.

The other way forward would be to use Bass Clarinet samples to fill out the bottom of the MIDI range - some of the samples would still need to be timestretched to fill the lowest 3 octaves but sound quality would be better down to C2.

Let me know your thoughts.

Music not sounding

I downloaded the new update for musescore two days ago and been using. Starting two days ago, when ever i want to hear what I've composed, it won't play any of the notes. It will highlight the notes like it was playing but will not play the audio. I want to know if you could help me with that? Also the sound button in the mixer window isn't allowing me to choose anything or have thing on it. Also, I'm using Musescore 2 on a mac pro.
